Brothers Peter and David Brewis, aka Field Music, hail from Sunderland in the north-east of England. The band's music draws on influences as wide-ranging as Stravinsky, Stax R&B, Fleetwood Mac, Serge Gainsbourg, Thelonious Monk and Kate Bush.

Field Music's sound is like all of the pop music you've ever heard but with a distinctly British - and north-eastern, tinge. They've become known for a deconstructionist approach to songwriting, playfully twisting compositions into new and odd shapes, with a refreshing disregard for convention and cliche.

The band is the constant subject of critical acclaim, and last album ’Measure’ doubled its sales on the back of both that customary acclaim, and significant BBC radio play. Indeed, the first single off this new album ’(I Keep Thinking About) A New Thing’ was A-Listed at BBC Radio 6, along with artists such as The Black Keys.

David Brewis was named by NME as one of the top 50 most innovative musicians in the world, following the release of his School Of Language album, whilst Peter Brewis released his one off The Week That Was project that ended up as #8 in Mojo’s albums of the year and received an 8.2 review on Pitchfork.

Peter and David released the sprawling third Field Music album ’Measure’ in 2010, garnering a 5 star review in Uncut and 4 stars in Q and Mojo. The latest album ’Plumb’, is receiving similar acclaim in key press, with major features in The Guardian and The Sunday Times, and key reviews such as: ”Like a delicious tasting menu of rock history. Tuck in.” MOJO **** “ More homespun brilliance from Sunderland’s pop perfectionists.” UNCUT **** “If there’s any justice at all, ‘Plumb’ could be this year’s ‘The English Riviera’ (Metronomy). Forged from solid pop gold.” NME
