Singer / songwriter, Marty Simpson, has returned home to release his debut album ‘Exit’.

Most people will remember Marty from Idol, where he was in the final four; however, since then he has immersed himself in what he loves and does best – making and playing music.  After touring up and down the East Coast & performing at over 40 venues, playing at the hugely popular Rip Curl Pro surf festival at iconic Bells Beach and the Surfing Life Peer Poll Awards, Marty then packed his bags and travelled to the US.

‘Exit’ was recorded on both sides of the globe and produced by Ian Prichett (Angus & Julia Stone / The Beautiful Girls) and Robert Carranza (Jack Johnson).  Co-writers include Ben Lee & Steffan Lessard (Dave Matthews Band).  Says Marty “My trip to the United States was definitely the biggest highlight of my music career so far; I had the opportunity to co-write songs with a whole bunch of amazing people across America.  Writing with Ben Lee and Steffan Lessard as a group was an amazing experience and the fact that Steffan was willing to write, hangout and even record on my album was a musical dream in itself as the Dave Matthews Band has been one of my most influential bands to date.  My trip took many unexpected turns, I was supposed to be there for a 2 week writing trip and then return, but I ended up recording 70% of my album with producer Robert Carranza in the Brushfire Records studio over a four day period.”

The first single ‘I See Things Different Now’ is at radio this week and the video clip features one of Australia’s hottest models Stephanie ‘Bambi’ Northwood-Blyth.  The songs from the album are an insight to Marty’s incredibly genuine personality.  They are engaging, honest and superbly crafted.

‘Exit’ will be released through Shock Records on 27th May
