This Friday an album swarming full of contagious pop, charming lyrics and uplifting moments is due to hit the shelves of all good music stores. Canadian born, Lindi Ortega has built up quite a name for herself in her home town of Toronto, being described as Toronto’s best kept secret. Since releasing her first album in 2001, the singer-songwriter has released two EP’s and another album, thus making her a popular act in her local region. At the end of 2010, and continuing into 2011, Ortega went on tour with Brandon Flowers of The Killers, as one of his back-up singer’s, as they went on tour all over Europe and North-America promoting his solo album, Flamingo.
Lindi Ortega’s sound has been described as a concoction of Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash and Emmylou Harris. The thing which stands out most over the course of this album is her faultless voice; it’s the key feature on each of the tracks and takes each song from being something pretty safe and standard to the next level; to something far more engaging. As I listened to the album for the first few times, I realised that the combination of her punchy voice and uplifting attitude spread over a series of sweet pop songs, makes this album a perfect candidate for upcoming Spring/Summer evenings.
Be sure to head over to her website to have a look and listen to her video clips.

Hi–not sure if we listened to the same record. I’m only halfway through Lindi’s new album & to me it’s full of love-lorn country tunes–even if some tempos are upbeat.
Also, plurals don’t use apostrophes. IE: “back-up singers” not “singer’s.”
